Penelope's paintings are a reflection of her passion for food and wine. They are contemporary in style with an emphasis on color, mood and light. Her inspiration begins in social settings such as candlelit restaurants, intimate wine bars, trendy lounges, private cellars and around dinner tables where she captures her imagery with photography to use as reference in the studio. She often depicts the way a wineglass or table fork reflects the surrounding atmosphere and light. By painting her subjects larger-than-life, emphasizing repetition and abstracted shapes (usually found in distortions and reflections of glass and metal), skewing perspective, and by pushing color Penelope portrays a unique twist on life's simple pleasures ♥ Penelope earned her BFA in Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She resides in Norther California and visits Sonoma and Napa Valley often for exhibitions, events and to explore the many appellations and varietals.
